Melissa Brandley and her own Reminiscent ended up reserve champion in the a/a hunters and 3rd in the combined adult/children’s hunter classic. They were also reserve horse of the year champion in that division! Reminiscent was also reserve division champion and horse of the year champion in the green 3’6” hunters with Jess!
Nicole Gorman and her own Icon won the USEF adult medal, had top 3 placings in their a/o hunters, finished reserve horse of the year champion in that division AND made their jumper debut! Icon also won in the jumpers with Jess and took second in the first round of the international derby finishing 7th overall after an unlucky rail in the handy round.
Anika Mehta and her young horse Livarot La Tulipe had wins in the low child equitation and in the modified child hunters and finished reserve champion in their equitation division. Livarot also had wins in the 5yo young hunters with Jess.
Kristin Song and her Don Pedro had top placings and the Children’s Hunters.
Sarah Maples and her Gentleman Jack had a 3rd place finish in the very competitive Jr/Am Hunter Derby, including the highest score in round one. Gentleman Jack also moved up to the 3’3” Performance Division with Jessica with top 3 placings.
Anne and Never Say Never made the work off in all their medal classes with top three placings in all. They had great results in the a/a hunters and finished 7th in the combined adult/children’s hunter classic.
We are so proud of our small show group on their great successes to wrap up our 2021 show season.
Our Tally Hawk Flock had a fun, Halloween themed play day hosted by La Jolla Equestrian Center on October 30th. The day was filled with many creative costumes, games including Ride a Buck, Egg & Spoon Race, Wine Spill Challenge, and obstacle course. We ended the day with an Italian Buffet hosted by Lourdes and La Jolla Equestrian Center. We are so grateful to have such a fun facility to call home! See all the costumes in our gallery section.

Kristin Song and her horse Don Pedro had a wonderful first show with Tally Hawk! The pair ended Reserve Champion in the Limit Equitation, first in the PCHA Jr/Am Medal, and top three placings in the Low Children’s Hunters!
Reminiscent, owned by Melissa Brandley, moved up to the 3’6” Performance Hunters with impressive placings with Jessica Allan. Melissa and Reminiscent stepped up to the 3’ AA’s and had great rounds!
La Luna Bay, owned by Michelle Gaubert, had great trips in the 3’6” Green and Performance hunters as well as a solid trip in their first time in the $25,000 USHJA/WCHR Hunter Spectacular! Luna and Michelle also had great placings in their first time in the 2’9” Modified Adult Hunters!
Icon, owned by Nicole Gorman, had high placings stepping in to the 4’ High Performance Hunter Division and a super finish just out of the running 13th in the $25,000 SUHJA/WCHR Hunter Spectacular with Jessica in the irons. Nicole and Icon held their own as well in the 3’3” A/O Hunters earning and blue and red with impressive scores of 83 in this competitive division.
Call It Karma, proudly offered for sale, put in beautiful 3’3” Performance Hunter rounds with Jessica Allan and is a solid 3 ring citizen for his owner Abigail Boyer, earning top finishes in the 3’3” Modified Jr/Am Hunters, Equitation 15-17 division, and the ASPCA Maclay.
We can’t wait to see what this next week brings for this great group!
Melissa Brandley’s retired mare, Diana Rose, gave birth to Callia Rose on May 3rd! This long awaited arrival is so exciting for Melissa and we can’t wait to have this beautiful filly at Tally Hawk in the future. Congratulations, Melissa!
Congratulations to our wonderful group at the Woodside Spring Preview! It was a show of moving up for many riders and everyone brought their A Game! Highlights from the week include:
Abby Boyer and her horse Call it Karma took home reserve champion in the 15-17 Equitation and a win for their super handy round in the Junior Hunters. Call it Karma also took home second place in the USHJA National Hunter Derby with Jessica Allan in the irons. Congratulations to the Boyer Family!
Michelle Gaubert and her horse La Luna Bay had a great first show of the year together with impressive rounds in the Pre Adult Hunters and Equitation. La Luna Bay and Jessica Allan also ended 8th in the USHJA National Hunter Derby.
Kate Olsen and her mare Catira had a great first show with their debut in the 3’3” Junior Hunters! Catira and Kate also successfully navigated their first derby round together. The pair ended the show with scores of 80 and 85 ending up 3rd in the competitive Junior Hunter Classic.
Nicole Gorman and her horse Icon stepped into the A/O Hunters this show and pulled off multiple wins to cinch the championship in their division! Icon and Jessica Allan took home 6th together in the USHJA National Hunter Derby.
Mariela Heinala and her horse Helios debut in the 3’3” Junior Hunters and ended up Reserve Champions in the division! Congrats to this pair!
Our Young Hunters swept the division with Her Majesty Hazel, owned by Amber Gnas-Pereira, ridden by Jessica Allan, taking Champion and Vanitas, owned by Kailyn Gray and ridden by Jessica Allan, taking home Reserve Champion.
Livarot La Tulipe, owned by Anika Mehta, was Reserve Champion in the Baby Greens with Jessica Allan riding. Anika and “Leo” had great trips in the Pre-Children’s Hunter and Equitation division in their second show together ever.
Sarah Maples and her horse, Gentleman Jack, had a great show with successful rounds in the Adult Amateur Hunters and several medals. Well done, Sarah!

Our team had a great first show of the year at the Northern Winter Classic Show at Rancho Murrieta Equestrian Center. Highlights are included below and congrats to all of our riders!
Abby and her horse, Call It Karma, had great ribbons in the first week and the second week she was champion in her age group equitation and Reserve Champion in the 2’6” Junior Hunters, qualifying them for the Junior Hunter Finals!
Kate Olsen and her mare, Catira, had great placings in the Children’s and Equitation Hunters
Anika Mehta’s young horse, Leo, had his show debut with THS and ended up Young Hunters Reserve Champion and Anika even piloted him to some great rounds in the Low Children’s Hunters
